the food !
To people who are newly vegan, the vast array of great food that is not or does not include animals or their milk or eggs may seem a little overwhelming.  I am still constantly surprised just how varied my diet has become since going vegan in October of 2006.   Just considering all the varieties of beans, lentils, rice, other grains including teff, amaranth and spelt ( quinoa is a close friend now...was a total stranger 2 years ago ! ) are enough to keep one interested and well nourished for years to come.
New vegan or vegetarian cookbooks are showing up all the time and I've found all of them fun, creative and very helpful.  We'll be adding titles of cookbooks to our list  and links to websites and blogs that feature great recipes and some really luscious, yummy photography.
New Leaf Vegan joined Lori Hill ( of lorihillevents.com ) in helping to make Chesapeake Climate Action Network's  Polar Bear Plunge on Jan.10th in Annapolis a fun and sucessful event.   The Plunge was to raise both awareness and funds for CCAN's efforts on the climate change front.  New Leaf's own Jamie braved the 37 degree Chesapeake Bay, as well as Lori and at least 100 other brave and committed souls.   Dale stayed on shore, but had baked muffins and cookies earlier for everyone to enjoy !   Here's a link to our blog for the recipes and another thank you to Lori and CCAN for  including vegan food in an event that addresses climate change :>
