10 billion land animals ( chickens, and other poultry, pigs, cows, cattle, goats...) are raised and slaughtered each year in the United States alone. This figure does not include all the sea creatures, marine animals that are eaten or caught and discarded as "by catch" ( or "trash fish" ). According to the Animals Voice Magazine, that works out to 26 miliion deaths everyday. One million every hour. 300 every second. And that is in the US alone. And all so unncessary. We do not need to eat animals or their secretions. We can meet all of our nutritional requirements with a plant-based diet, while living more humanely and sustainably.
